Being that I live in the New River Valley...the only sports talk radio available is ESPN radio, and Fox sports radio which consists of Jim Rome and Big Dawg Sports Talk.  Now listening to BDST is quite unbearable at times b/c they are some of the biggest VT homers I've ever heard ...and sometimes they try to act like they came up with article/story ideas that have been in the main stream media for weeks on end.  Anyway... when listening to BDST.. you'll hear local VT homer callers such as..  The "Ya know" guy.   This dude calls in every time football is the subject and I have to change the station.  Here is an accurate but completely fiction call by him you may hear on there.  Believe me when I say this... listen to the show.. when he calls in you'll know exactly who I'm talking to.

Ya Know Guy: (In his best redneck voice) Hey Big Dawg man..   ya know man..  ya know what I think....  I think the Hokies will run all over these guys.. ya know..  I was thinking  I mean..  ya know..  Boise just doesn't have what the Hokies have ya know?  I mean the Hokies are the best man and I just don't see some of these sports guys saying Boise is gonna win ya know?  Ya know what I'm saying.

Big Dawg:  I know exactly what you are saying.  OK Jamie.. lets put the Game Cock girls picture on the facebook

Ya Know Guy:  I mean.. I just don't see it Big Dawg. Ya know.  I mean.. whoever scores the most TD's is gonna win Big Dawg.. Ya know??  That's just how it is.  Ya know.. I mean.. Ya know.?

Big Dawg:  Yea man.. I know..  the Hokies rule.  Ok Jamie.. back to the girls..  I know I'm married but those chicks were checking me out right?

Jamie:  Sureeee Big Dawg....Sureeee....

Ya Know Guy:  Ya know Big Dawg?  Ya know?  

Seriously...this guy should never be able to call into that show again.  He never makes a point...blabbers on about how VT is the BEST and how nobody else can touch them YA KNOW!

Colin Cowherd....I hate him...but sometimes he is AWESOME!!

Colin Cowherd is your usual blowhard sports guy with his own radio/tv show. Now typically he is a jackass like most of the rest of them. I think this on a daily basis as I listen to him rant about whatever the hell is up his ass at the moment. That was until here recently when he found a moment of clarity!:

Another year another disappointment!!

Well it's that time of year again. What time of year is that you may ask? Time for the Chokies to come in to a new year with a good national ranking only to disappoint. Status Quo for Beamer's choke artists. The Chokies are ranked 6th in the USA Today Poll and 10th in the AP poll. Guess I do not give the AP enough credit when it comes to common sense but it looks like those voters are much more intelligent than the USA Today voters.

Recently Frankie boy signed a contract extension through 2016. Bud Foster has an annuity coming up after the 2014 season that stipulates if he is the DC for the Hokies until after the 2014 season he gets $800k! Look for Bud to take a head coaching position somewhere then Chokie fans.

The Hokies first test is Boise St. BSU is returning 21 out of 22 starters. VT's offense looks pretty good but their defense will be suspect which is unusual for them. Lets look at some Hokie fan predictions for the game courtesy of Rivals.com site Hokiehaven.com
